About me

Roseleen Labazacchy is a Nigerian mixed-media painter based in Ibadan, Nigeria. A native of Saki, Born and raised in Oyo town, She grew up surrounded by art of her father, a lecturer of Fine Art, whose passion sparked her own journey into creative expression. She began formal training at the Nike Art Gallery (Osogbo, 2013) and spent time at Topfat Art Gallery (Ibadan) before participating in the renowned 2019 Harmattan Workshop at Agbarha-Otor, founded by Professor Bruce Onobrakpeya. She earned her Nigerian Certificate of Education (NCE) in Fine and Applied Art from Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo, 2019 and is currently pursuing a degree in Sociology at the University of Ibadan.

Roseleen’s practice is rooted in mixed-media experimentation, combining oil, acrylic, fabrics, and leaf-prints with bead-inspired patterns on canvas to create deeply textured works. Her works are a fusion of post-impressionism, neo-impressionism, and an ultrafeminine sensibility that delicately explores themes of beauty, women’s mental health, human experience, resilience, and cultural identity. Through her magical and unorthodox style, she tells layered stories of African women—their strength, vulnerability, and essence.

Her works have been exhibited in numerous galleries, and She continues to develop her practice while building a career that bridges contemporary African expression with global artistic discourse.
